The Jefferson Station Wreck
On the morning of January 31, 1999 the BNSF southbound train for Mobile, Alabama derailed just south of MP 745 on the Columbus Sub. There had been heavy rains during the night and early morning and the high water had washed out the chat from under the rails just north of the Bogue creek bridge. Luckily, no one was hurt in this accident. The photos will show the huge amount of damage caused by the 100 ton grain cars. The roadmaster was fired for the accident.
